Good to know
- Do I need to book a campsite?
- In school holidays and summer weekends, book popular sites well ahead. Out of season most campsites take walk-ins, though small sites still fill up on fine weekends.
- What’s the difference between a campsite and a holiday park?
- A holiday park (a caravan park in the UK and Australia) has powered sites, showers, a kitchen and often cabins. A campsite can be anything from that to a flat field with a toilet.
- Can I bring my dog?
- Many private campsites and holiday parks allow dogs on a lead. National park and DOC campsites usually don’t. We show the dog rules on a site’s page where we know them.
- Where can I stay each night of my road trip?
- Plan the drive in Roadtrip: it splits the trip into days and suggests places to sleep near the end of each one.
