Below the Moonlight Head cliffs, Wreck Beach is where the anchors of the Marie Gabrielle (1869) and the Fiji (1891) can be seen when the tide and swell allow. Reaching it is a gravel road off the Great Ocean Road then a very steep stairway. This is not a swimming beach.
Good to know
- Check the tide, the anchors are only reachable when it is low
- Rips are strong and persistent, don't swim
- Take water: steps are hard on the way back up
- Best time
- Low tide, calm day
- Getting there
- Gravel road to car park, 366 steps down
