Blackhead is a fishing and swimming beach that doubles as the southern entry to the 446 hectare Te Angiangi Marine Reserve, so it is a good place to snorkel. At low tide you can walk to Aramoana Beach, about 6 km return. Freedom camping is not allowed here, but the Blackhead Beach campground has two casual sites with a communal kitchen and laundry.
