Jack's Blowhole
Owaka, Otago
Walk up from Jacks Bay to a viewing deck over a blowhole 200 m inland.

A gravel track climbs from the south end of Jacks Bay past clifftop views over Penguin Bay, then up steps to a platform above the blowhole. The hole sits well back from the sea and swallows the swell through caves, so it is loudest after a storm. Worth the detour from Owaka if you like your coast with a bit of theatre.
