About 33 km west of Mount Somers on Ashburton Gorge Road, which turns into Hakatere Potts Road. A 10 km circuit loops the shore, and other tracks lead to Mount Guy and Mystery Lake. In winter the road from the outlet is closed to vehicles but all tracks stay open on foot.
