Spa Park hot pools

Otumuheke Stream is geothermally heated and gets hotter the further upstream you wade. Locals soak here year-round and it costs nothing. It sits right by the Huka Falls track, so you can combine the two.

Good to know

• Go in with sandals or water shoes, the stream bed is rough and can be hot
• Visit at dawn or dusk for the quietest soak
• Hot pools can change with river levels, so test the water with a hand first
• Take your rubbish with you and don't leave valuables in the car
