The loop starts at the Te Kauri Lodge car park on SH31, crosses the road, follows Manuka and Waikuku tracks beside Waikuku Stream and over a swingbridge, then climbs steeply up many steps to an open area with views of Kawhia and Pirongia. Cross SH31 with care and do not block the farm access road.
