Tokatoka Peak

Tokatoka is a steep-sided volcanic plug rising out of flat farmland near the Wairoa River. A short, steady climb gets you above the paddocks for views over the Kaipara and surrounding countryside.

Good to know

• Go late afternoon for softer light
• Sturdy shoes help on the final steep section

Getting there

Short walk from the road end or car park; DOC lists it as 20 min one way (easy).
