Calke Abbey is a Baroque mansion built in 1701-04 and was never actually an abbey. The Harpur family lived here for nearly 300 years, and the National Trust looked after it by keeping many rooms in the faded state they found them. The surrounding park has ancient oaks, walled gardens and walks.
