White Castle is the most complete of the three Norman border castles in this corner of Monmouthshire, with a moat, twin-towered gatehouse and a wide grassy ward. It sits in empty countryside, so it is peaceful outside holiday weekends. Combine it with Skenfrith Castle for an easy back-roads loop.
