Viroconium was the fourth-largest Roman settlement in Britain, with a population of more than 15,000 at its peak. Its remains are in the care of English Heritage, with a museum on site and a reconstructed Roman townhouse. The great wall of the baths hall, known as the Old Work, is the best bit.
