Goffs
Goffs, California
Near-empty railroad town in the Mojave, bypassed by Route 66 in 1931.

Goffs began as a railroad siding in 1883 and was a Route 66 stop until a more direct road opened in 1931. A restored 1914 schoolhouse now holds a small mining-history museum, and otherwise there is little but desert quiet. The pin is the settlement.
