Oatman is a tiny former mining town on the Mojave end of Route 66, with a stretch of boardwalk shops and saloons. The descendants of the miners' donkeys roam the street and will nose around for carrots. The road into town from Kingman climbs over the Black Mountains in tight bends.
Good to know
- Buy burro feed in the shops, not human snacks
- Gold Road over Sitgreaves Pass is twisty, not great for large RVs
- Staged gunfights run on weekends
- Getting there
- Sealed but steep, twisty road from Kingman, avoid long trailers
- Vehicles
- Fine in any car
