Old Man's Cave

The best-known stop in Hocking Hills. A stair-and-tunnel trail drops through a sandstone gorge with the Upper, Middle and Lower Falls, then reaches the big recess cave the place is named for. It is a short walk from the car park, but the steps are steep.

Good to know

• Go early or on a weekday in autumn to dodge the crowds
• The Gorge Trail links on to Cedar Falls if you want a longer loop
• Trails can be icy and sometimes closed in winter
