Taum Sauk is the high point of Missouri at 1,772 feet, though it feels more like a long ridge than a peak. A signed trail from the car park leads out to the rim and on to Mina Sauk Falls, which only runs properly after rain. The views over the St. Francois Mountains are long and wooded, and it is a good place for a short, rewarding leg-stretch.
