Norsewood was founded in 1872 mostly by Norwegian settlers and the village still has a Scandinavian feel around Coronation Street. In Upper Norsewood there is a stave church replica, a glassed boathouse with a Norwegian-gifted fishing boat and a Pioneer Museum in an 1888 building. Norsewear makes woollen garments in Norwegian designs, and there is a visitor centre on Coronation Street.
