Ormondville's station opened in 1880 and still has its goods shed and sidings. The last regular passenger train ran in 2001. Heritage New Zealand lists it as Category 2 and a preservation group has maintained it since 1986. The same group offers beds for visitors, and the town's rail viaduct is a well-known landmark nearby.
