The Bowder Stone is a large lump of andesite that dropped from the crag above at the end of the last Ice Age and landed on its edge. A short woodland path leads to it from the road, and a ladder lets you climb on top. It is a quick, easy stop for kids and anyone driving up or down Borrowdale.
