Hollins Cross is the lowest point on the Great Ridge, the ridgeline running from Mam Tor to Lose Hill. Edale coffins were once carried over it to Hope church, hence the nickname coffin road. A path from Castleton or Edale climbs to it and gives you a ridge view on both sides without having to do the full Mam Tor to Lose Hill traverse.
