Peveril Castle is an 11th century castle perched above Castleton, founded by William Peverel in the years after the Conquest and run today by English Heritage. The keep is the main thing left standing, but the real reward is the position, looking out across Hope Valley and down into Cave Dale. It makes an easy add-on to the show caves in the village.
